If you have done up your own diet meal plan, congratulations! That is definitely a good start and now you should make efforts to follow it as closely as possible.
Most people find it hard to follow their own diet meal plan due to various reasons. We will share with you what they are so that you can prepare yourself better.
Firstly, identify any food triggers you have. Most people are brain hungry rather than stomach hungry. What this means is that people rarely eat due to hunger and hunger alone. If possible, you should try and figure out what circumstances, situations or events are more likely to make you reach for that snack.
Observe your eating and social habits. You may be able to discover certain quirks that you have that cause you to want to eat frequently. Once you have identified your eating patterns, you will be more aware of your reasons for over-eating.
A good way to keep track of such patterns is to keep a food diary for at least a fortnight – a month is better – prior to starting any dietary regime. Write down the time of day you ate, what you ate, how you were feeling at the time and if you were hungry. Keep this as precise as possible with as much information as possible – after a couple of weeks, you should be able to see a pattern from your eating.
You may find that you eat more fatty food when you’re tired or smaller portions when you’re in a rush. The key thing is to identify your own unique behaviour.
With such information, you can plan a diet properly. With better preparation, you will likely be able to carry out your diet meal plan to the end.
